Tseng stumbles in the first round

PITTSFORD, N.Y. - Beatriz Recari, Ryann O'Toole, and Giulia Sergas shot 3-under 69 to share the first-round lead in the LPGA Championship, while defending champion Yani Tseng matched her high score of the year with a 76.

The top-ranked Tseng, a 10-stroke winner last year in the major championship, had six bogeys and only two birdies on the narrow Locust Hill Country Club course.

"I just couldn't hit a shot, couldn't hit on the green, couldn't hit on the fairway," Tseng said. "It was really tough for me out there."

Jeong Jang reached 5 under but bogeyed four of her final five holes to finish in a tie at 70 with 2010 champion Cristie Kerr, Paula Creamer, Se Ri Pak, Na Yeon Choi, Ai Miyazato, and Mika Miyazato.


MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Jeff Maggert and John Merrick shot 4-under 66 to share the first-round lead in the St. Jude Classic, leaving U.S. Open champion Rory McIlroy 2 strokes back.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Dan Forsman and Bill Glasson shared the first-round lead in the Regions Tradition, shooting 6-under 66 at Shoal Creek in the second of the Champions Tour's five major championships.

BRO, Sweden - Lee Westwood shot an 8-under 64 to lead by 3 strokes - at 12 under - after the second round at the Nordea Masters.
