EHT's Wiafe commits to Rutgers

Posted: June 13, 2012

Eric Wiafe, a tight end-defensive end who will be a senior this fall at Egg Harbor Township, has made an oral commitment to Rutgers.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Wiafe said that he made his decision Tuesday and that he was recruited to play defense. He was a starter at tight end for EHT and played defensive end late in the season, as well.

"I liked the program and coaching staff," he said about Rutgers.

Wiafe said he heard from former EHT standout Tejay Johnson, who is a redshirt freshman cornerback at Rutgers.

"He called me earlier tonight and told me he'd like to have me up there and said I'd be a good fit there," Wiafe said.

Wiafe added that he also had offers from Buffalo and Massachusetts.
