Philadelphia has worst fans, survey of MLB players finds

More than one-third of the 100 Major League Baseball players who took part in a survey rated Philadelphia fans as the worst in the league.

The 36 percent negative rating put Philly at the top of the list of cities with the worst fans in the survey conducted by Men's Journal magazine. But that figure, which is obviously far from a majority, also means 64 percent do not think Philadelphia is all that bad. And that is a good thing.

Coming in second, was San Francisco, with 22 percent.

New York, with two major league baseball teams, came in third with 12 percent, according to the survey, which appears in the magazine's July issue, on newsstands Friday.

The survey covers a number of other subjects, including the most-hated player (White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski, 34 percent) and smartest manager (Tampa Bay's Joe Maddon).
