An overnight crash involving a box truck and a car has left a 25-year-old woman dead and closed the southbound lanes of Route 202 near the 30 Bypass in Chester County for nine hours today, reopening only after the morning rush hour ended.

The crash occurred about 1 a.m. on the highway near Boot Road in West Whiteland Township.

The driver of a Volkswagen Passat was killed in the smash up and the driver of the box truck suffered minor injuries, officials said.

The dead woman's name has not been released and the cause of the crash is under investigation.

After daylight, video from 6ABC's news helicopter showed the mangled wreck of a black car on the back of a flatbed truck.

The truck's container was ripped open on the driver's side, some of its cargo scattered on the roadway.

PennDot crews used sand to clean up a fuel spill.

The southbound lanes reopened after 9 a.m., PennDot said.

During the closure, vehicles were detoured onto the Route 30 bypass to Route 100 south to Route 202.
