Clearwater's Jesse Biddle had three strikeouts sandwiched around two infield hits in his one inning for the North in the Florida State League All-Star Game on Saturday.

The North, featuring seven members of the Class A Threshers, lost, 6-3, in Port Charlotte, Fla.

On his first pitch, Biddle, the Phillies' first-round pick in 2010, deflected a ball back up the middle by Marcell Ozuna that rolled to second baseman Ryan Schimpf.

He struck out the next two batters swinging and then Blake Forsythe singled on an 0-2 pitch to short. Biddle retired the side with a four-pitch strikeout.

Two other Clearwater pitchers made appearances. Tyler Knigge, a late replacement to the roster, ended up taking the loss after losing the lead. He allowed two runs - one earned - with three walks in one-third of an inning. He did not allow a hit. Austin Wright allowed two hits and struck out one in his one inning.

Cody Asche was the starter at third, going 1-for-4 with a strikeout. Starting catcher Cameron Rupp went 0-for-2 and outfielder Pete Lavin went 0-for-1.

Adam Morgan also was selected but did not play because he is on the disabled list. Asche had been selected to replace him.

The Threshers (34-29) begin the second half of the season Monday vs. visiting Dunedin.
