The Union did not renew their loan deal with German midfielder Kai Herdling - and even sent him packing two weeks ahead of schedule.
On Tuesday, the club waived Herdling, 27, whose loan expires June 30. Herdling was brought in from German Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim 1899 while fellow midfielder Roger Torres battled a knee injury. The early waiver is so that Herdling can return to Hoffenheim for the start of its preseason training later this week. Herdling joined the Union on April 16 but played in just four MLS games. He scored his only goal for the team in a friendly against minor-league affiliate Harrisburg City on June 14.
