Erin Maher hit a two-run single to cap a four-run second inning that carried the Suburban One League/Bicentennial team to a 4-0 victory over Lehigh Valley and the Carpenter Cup softball championship on Thursday.
Suburban One/Bicentennial won three consecutive games Thursday in the double-elimination tournament at FDR Park in Philadelphia to earn its first title in this, the eighth year of Carpenter Cup softball. The last two wins came over Lehigh Valley, which had entered the tournament's fourth and final day undefeated.
