COUNCILMAN Bobby Henon wants only good neighbors hanging out in his Northeast Philadelphia district.
Henon on Wednesday put alleged deadbeat landlords in the hot seat in City Council during a hearing that sought to examine how problem rental properties affect neighborhoods.
"I've watched some of the neighborhoods where I grew up slowly deteriorate," said Henon, who has launched a "Bad Neighbor Initiative" to put the squeeze on landlords with outstanding violations and unpaid taxes. "One neglected property triggers a domino effect. A neglected property leads to a neglected block. And one bad block brings down a neighborhood."
