Flyers opening 2012-13 season with 13 of 19 at home

The Flyers' 2012-13 schedule was released Thursday, and, assuming labor problems do not delay the start of the NHL season, they will play 13 of their first 19 games at home.

The Flyers, who struggled at the Wells Fargo Center in 2011-12, will open the season Oct. 11 by hosting the Boston Bruins.

If you were planning to buy tickets to watch Jeff Carter, Mike Richards, Justin Williams, Simon Gagne, and the rest of the Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings, forget about it. The Flyers will not host the Kings in 2012-13.

The Flyers will play each of their Atlantic Division rivals six times - three home and three away. They will face other Eastern Conference teams four times each, and will play 18 games against Western Conference opponents.

Chicago, Minnesota, San Jose, Anaheim, Calgary, Colorado, Dallas, Detroit, and Edmonton will each visit the Wells Fargo Center once. But no Flyers West.

The most grueling part of the Flyers' schedule will be an eight-game, 7,300-mile road trip from Dec. 21 to Jan. 6, which will have stops in New Jersey, Ottawa, Nashville, St. Louis, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Jose, and Vancouver. After the first two games of the trip, the team will have a holiday break for Christmas.

Last season, the Flyers were 22-13-6 at home and 25-13-3 on the road.
