On what was possibly the hottest day of the year, Camden — on the Delaware River, home to the Riversharks and Adventure Aquarium — went without fresh water for much of Thursday.
A plunge in water pressure and water levels caused the city to issue an alert advising residents to boil water before using and to restrict unnecessary use of water until further notice.
The Riversharks canceled Thursday night's game, telling fans that "the City of Camden's water supply has run out and we are unable to operate without water due to fire and health codes."
Rich Henning, a spokesman for United Water, the private company that provides Camden's water and sewage service, told the Inquirer that all the open fire hydrants around the city caused lower than normal water pressure.
