Upcoming: Blue Jays (Fri., Sat., Sun.), vs. Cardinals (Mon., Tue., Wed.).
The skinny: The Marlins were 21-8 in May but have lost 12 of 14 in June, going into last night's game in Boston. "It's all part of playing 162 games in the big leagues. It's going to happen," Miami's Logan Morrison said. "Everybody's positive to get it done. You'd think there'd be a little gradual falloff [from last month], but it's been hot and cold."
Upcoming: Yankees (Fri., Sat., Sun.), at Cubs (Mon., Tue., Wed.), at Dodgers (Thur.).
The skinny: The heat wave in the Northeast is paying off for Mets fans. As part of a summer promotion, the Mets tied the ticket price for some top seats this weekend against the Yankees to the gametime temperature Wednesday night. It was 94 degrees when the Mets started against Baltimore, and that meant it will be $94 for leftfield reserved seats at Citi Field on Friday night, down from the usual $115. It also will be $94 for field boxes Sunday night, cut from the regular $136. The team began selling the discounted tickets right away, and said quantities were limited.
Upcoming: at Orioles (Fri., Sat., Sun.), at Rockies (Mon., Tue., Wed., Thur.).
The skinny: Righthander Chien-Ming Wang replaced lefthander Ross Detwiler in the Nationals' rotation a month ago, but manager Davey Johnson is switching them back. Wang gave up five runs on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings on Tuesday and is headed back to the bullpen. "Chien-Ming is very valuable to us and I feel like in his [four] starts that he hasn't gotten better with his mechanics," Johnson said. Detwiler was 3-3 with 3.88 ERA in nine starts before moving to the bullpen.
