Water pressure problems remain in Camden

Posted: June 23, 2012

Water remained scarce for some on Friday in Camden, as officials investigated the cause of lower-than-normal water levels and pressure the day before.

A "boil water" alert was issued Thursday, as well as a restriction on nonessential water use, for areas west of the Cooper River served by United Water. Both remained intact Friday evening.

On Thursday, a United Water spokesman said a number of open fire hydrants were to blame for the low water.

Officials with New Jersey American Water, which serves many east of the river, said there were no issues with that company's water distribution in Camden. - Angelo Fichera
