Kentucky point guard works out for 76ers

While the Sixers have said little about the possibility of drafting a point guard in Thursday's draft, they did find time to work out a pretty good one on Friday morning at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Marquis Teague, the point guard on Kentucky's national championship team, went through an exhaustive, solo workout for the team. The 6-foot-2 Teague, expected to go in the middle of the first round, left Kentucky after one season. He averaged 10.0 points and 4.8 assists for the Wildcats.

"We know what he can do in a group setting. We wanted to get in his head and see how he responded to coaching," said Courtney Witte, Sixers director of player personnel.

The Sixers, who have the 15th, 45th, and 54th overall picks in next week's draft, will bring in five more players Saturday, all of them big men.

The group includes: John Henson, a 6-10 forward (13.7 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game), and Tyler Zeller, a 6-11 center (16.3 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 1.5 bpg), both from North Carolina; Baylor 6-10 forward Perry Jones (13.5 ppg, 7.6 rpg); Mississippi State 6-10 forward Arnett Moultrie (16.4 ppg, 10.5 rpg), and St. Bonaventure 6-9 forward Andrew Nicholson (18.5 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 2.0 bpg).
