Police this morning released the names of three men who were fatally shot during four bloody hours late Saturday and early Sunday.

A fourth victim was previously identified. For details, see Inquirer story on the Sunday morning stabbing of bartender George Fox in South Philadelphia.

The four deaths happened at four separate locations, although the two West Philadelphia shootings might have been connected, according to police.

A victim found by police about 1:10 a.m. Sunday might have been shot in retaliation for a fatal shooting less than an hour and a half before.

The first shooting happened in the 600 block of North 38th Street of the city's Mantua section. Officers went to the scene at 11:44 p.m., but the victim was taken by private vehicle to Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:15 a.m.

He was Kirk Artis, 26, who lived in the 300 block of North Holly Street in the Powelton section of West Philadelphia, about a mile from where the shooting took place.

The possibly related incident involved a victim named Jarrel Teague, 25, of the 3800 block of Mount Vernon Street in Mantua.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, he collapsed in front of a police near 40th and Market Streets in University City. He was shot in the neck, arm and chest, and was pronounced dead at 3:15 a.m. at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

The final fatality happened in the 3200 block of North Spangler Street in North Philadelphia, where four men were shot about 1:18 a.m. Sunday.

Pronounced dead at the scene was a North Philadelphia man who had been shot in the head and body. He was Eric Johnson, 31, who lived in the 2700 block of North 29th Street, less than a mile from the shooting.

One of the wounded was 19. The others were 35 and 39. They were all in stable condition about being hospitalized.
