The Drexel men's varsity eight, making its first appearance at the Royal Regatta at Henley-on-Thames, finished second to Harvard's lightweight eight and was eliminated Wednesday in the opening round of the Temple Challenge Cup.

Harvard, the 2012 IRA national champion, remained unbeaten, finishing in 7 minutes, 20 seconds on the two-lane 2,112-meter course.

Harvard won the Temple Challenge Cup in 2002 and is seeking to become the program's third lightweight boat to capture the title at Henley.

The Drexel boat featured coxswain Randall Lee (William Tennent High), stroke Kurt Linton (St. Augustine Prep), Paul Wisniowski (La Salle), Michael Faust (St. Augustine), Lorenzo Albala, Sebastian Ryan, Ryan Mallgrave (Haddon Township), Vanja Busic, and bow Will Masters (Mainland).
