SHOTS ON GOAL

Upcoming game:

Union (3-8-2, 11 points) at Houston (5-5-5, 20 points)

When: Saturday, 8:30 p.m.

Where: BBVA Compass Stadium, Houston

TV: The Comcast Network

For kicks: Houston appears to be a team in fine form, but last year's MLS Cup finalist is cracking. The Dynamo is coming off a 4-2 loss to expansion club Montreal on Saturday?…?Houston's defense has been shaky, conceding 11 goals in its last four matches. Players are calling it a communication breakdown not only among the back four, but throughout the entire club. Houston boss Dominic Kinnear: "It's team defending. When you don't put pressure on the ball, there are good enough players in this league that can put together the right passes. If we talk early and are decisive with our communication, we can cut down on running. It's a little out of character for us, but it's a reality"?…?Scoring has saved the Dynamo, which has 20 goals in 15 matches. Second-year player Will Bruin has nine goals, trailing San Jose's Chris Wondolowski (13 goals) and New York's Kenny Cooper (11 goals) for the league lead?…?Houston is 3-0-2 at BBVA Compass Stadium, its new, 22,000-seat home?…?Goalkeeper Tally Hall, the rock behind Houston's MLS Cup run last year, has had a tough 2012, with a 1.56 goals against average and four shutouts in 15 league matches.

BY THE NUMBERS

9: The number of goals the Union has scored in three matches since John Hackworth took over as manager.

3: The number of goals Union forward Jack McInerney has scored in that stretch. Funny, considering his lack of playing time under previous coach Peter Nowak. Jack Mac's time was so little, it was thought by some he was next in line as trade bait.

5: The number of different players who have scored during this three-game stretch under Hackworth (McInerney, 3; Lionard Pajoy, 3; Freddy Adu, Gabriel Gomez and rookie Antoine Hoppenot).
