A Glassboro woman who police said was shot dead in her home by her ex-husband late Monday had complained that he had been stalking and harassing her, authorities said.
Rita Sawyer, 53, contacted Glassboro police last week but did not seek a restraining order against Charles Sawyer, 58, said a spokesman for the Gloucester County Prosecutor's office. Glassboro patrol officers were alerted June 27 to watch for Charles Sawyer's presence near the woman's home on the unit block of Sherwood Lane. But sometime before 10:20 p.m., Monday, Sawyer entered his ex-wife's home and gunned her down. No one else was in the house at that time.
