Katie Holmes: A new phase
TomKat survivor Katie Holmes hasn't said much about her marriage since her June 28 divorce filing, but the New York Daily News says she did talk about it before that fateful day. Seems Katie told Elle mag in May that she was entering a new, more confident, more independent phase in her life.
"I feel sexier. I think in my 20s, it's like you're trying too hard to figure everything out," the 33-year-old Batman Begins star said in an interview set to appear in Elle's August issue. "I'm starting to come into my own. It's like a new phase." (That's code for "I'm dumping my controlling husband.")
Katie delivers a fascinating line when asked to comment on her status as Mrs. Tom Cruise.
"He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years," she said of the 50-year-old actor. (What was he for the missing 20 years?) "I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that."
Justin Bieber tops the charts ... not!
Prepare for a shock: Justin Bieber's Believe, which debuted atop the Billboard album chart last week, is not No. 1 in its second week. Or No. 2, for that matter.
Two alterna bands from California have taken those top spots: Linkin Park's Living Things is at No. 1, selling 223,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Softer-edged alterna pop-rock act Maroon 5 is No. 2 with its fourth LP, Overexposed, with 222,000. And Bieber? He was abandoned by his so-called Beliebers, who allowed Believe to drop to third place with 115,000 copies sold, a 69 percent drop from last week.
Ocho 'n' Evelyn's Twitter wedding
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chad Ochocinco went Twittering into married life on the Fourth by tweeting a play-by-play of his nuptials to Basketball Wives' Evelyn Lozada. "What if @EvelynLozada is a runaway bride," the Dancing With the Stars contestant wrote before the pair said their vows, "when I get out there and I'm stuck looking good all by myself." She wasn't. The nuptials will constitute fodder for the couple's new VH1 reality show, Ev and Ocho.
Al & Tipper Gore find love elsewhere
Former veep Al Gore and Tipper Gore separated in 2010 after 40 years of marriage, yet they've still to file for divorce. That may change.
People mag says they've each found viable partners. Al, 64, is sharing his zeal for environmentalist stuff with environmental activist Elizabeth Keadle, 53. Tipper, an avid amateur photographer, is with National Geographic editor and fellow shutterbug Bill Allen, 71. "Life feels very simple and solid and happy for Tipper," Anonymous Tipper Pal says. "She and Bill have a really nice rapport."
Marriage? Not again ... no ... not again
Seal's estranged wife tells readers in her native Germany she may not walk down the aisle again. "I don't know if I'll get married again," Heidi Klum, 39, tells Bild am Sonntag. The Project Runway diva does admit she loved her seven years of marriage with the British soul singer. "I really enjoyed being married. I'm a dreamer," Klum says. "I loved our annual fairy-tale weddings that were our big family parties. But sadly, it somehow didn't work out." Klum denies she's dating fellow German Thomas Hayo, her cohost on Germany's Next Top Model.
