The team's other first-round pickup, power forward Arnett Moultrie, will be sidelined. Moultrie twisted his left ankle during his final workout with the Sacramento Kings before the draft, and was wearing a protective boot and limping heavily when introduced to the media by the Sixers last Friday. He will travel with the team to Orlando to receive treatment.
Center Nikola Vucevic, entering his second year with the team, will be participating, and power forward Lavoy Allen should join the team after signing his new contract on July 11. Penn point guard Zack Rosen, the Big 5 player of the year, also will be on the Sixers' squad, as will Xavier Silas, who signed on at the end of the season with the team.
Eight teams will compete in the league, including the Boston Celtics, Utah Jazz, Brooklyn Nets, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Oklahoma City Thunder and Orlando Magic. The Sixers will not play Boston or Oklahoma City. Their first game will be Monday against the Indiana Pacers.
The last time the team competed in this summer league, 2 years ago, assistant coach Aaron McKie coached the team while head coach Doug Collins observed. That will probably be the case again this year.
