Westbrook to fill Wade's shoes? James says yes

With Dwyane Wade out, U.S. players think Russell Westbrook can inherit his role on the Olympic basketball team.

Wade was the leading scorer for the Americans in 2008, playing an attacking style off the bench. LeBron James said Westbrook can do the same types of things. "Absolutely, because he's that type of player," James said.

Wade is unavailable this summer after having knee surgery Monday in Miami.

No Saudi women

A Saudi-owned newspaper said no women from the ultraconservative Muslim kingdom have qualified for the London Olympics. The report adds that Saudi male athletes have qualified to compete in track, equestrian and weightlifting at the Games that start in less than three weeks.

Field hockey. The Pakistan Hockey Federation has recalled forwards Shakil Abbasi and Rehan Butt into its squad for the London Olympics. Both players were fined last month for participating in World Hockey Series in India, an unsanctioned event.

Tennis. Roger Federer has not decided whether to accept an offer to carry Switzerland's flag during the opening ceremonies for the London Olympics. Federer said he might give the honor to someone else.

Soccer. U.S. women's national team goalkeeper Hope Solo received a public warning from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency after she tested positive for the banned substance Canrenone in a urine test.

Solo has accepted the warning and will still play for the United States in the Olympic tournament.

Strikers Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani were named in Uruguay's Olympic soccer squad. Suarez's Liverpool teammate Sebastian Coates was also included in the final 18-man squad.

Spain defender Mike San Jose will miss London Olympics after falling ill with chickenpox. He left camp to keep the team from being infected.
