IF YOU LIKED watching former Big 5 stars such as Allan Ray (Villanova), Pat Carroll (Saint Joseph's) and Mark Tyndale (Temple), you will be able to see them play on the same team Aug. 5 at Saint Joseph's Hagan Arena. They will play an exhibition game for Team Philadelphia against a team of former Washington-area college stars. This is a precursor to what organizers hope will be the Basketball Alumni Legends League (The-BALL), set for the summer of 2013.
The league hopes to start with four teams. Organizers are saying they expect one of those teams to be in Philadelphia. The teams will consist of former city college players not on NBA rosters. The-BALL hope to expand to eight teams in 2014, all in East Coast cities between Charlotte and Hartford.
