Police serving a warrant on a man wanted for burglary instead found themselves in an hours-long standoff Wednesday as the fugitive holed up in the crawl space of a Pine Hill, Camden County, home.

Terrence L. Williams, originally wanted for first-degree robbery, was eventually charged with obstruction and resisting arrest after police finally extricated him from the home without serious injury.

Events unfolded about 2 p.m. Wednesday as police from Pine Hill and Lindenwold were attempting to arrest Williams on burglary charge at a home on the first block of E. 10th Avenue.

Police say Williams dodged into the home when he saw them coming and bolted the door.

However, police soon discovered that a woman, Heather Morocco, 21, who lived at the home was also inside. She was allowed to leave. Police later discovered Morocco had outstanding warrants from Pine Hill Municipal Court.

Police and emergency personnel from other areas also joined police in surrounding the home and told local residents to stay inside.

Critical Incident Negotiators attempted to contact Williams for several hours, but he refused to respond or to leave, police say. Special Response Team members entered the home assisting K-9 Units.

They found Williams hiding in a crawlspace and he was arrested.

Williams, of West Branch Ave., Pine Hill, was taken to the Camden County Corrections Facility in default of $22,500 in charges police say they incurred from responding to the incident. Bail was set at $100,000.00 for the burglary warrant issued out of Lindenwold.

Morocco was taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility on $550 bail.
