A Delaware County woman is in critical condition this afternoon after she was shot inside a home in Havertown on the 500 block of Wales Avenue, police said.

Within minutes of the shooting, Gerald R. Moss, 26, was taken into custody and is to be charged with aggravated assault and other counts, said John Viola, Haverford Township Deputy police chief.

He said that when police dialed a number from which a call was made to the county 911 dispatch at 1:13 p.m., a woman answered and said she was just shot by her husband.

A few minutes later, a man called police to say he had just shot his wife.

Shortly after police arrived at the house, he surrendered, Viola said.

The victim, whose name was not released, suffered a gunshot wound of the shoulder and was in critical but stable condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Viola said.
