The Greenwood Cup

Parx Racing, Race 9 - Post 3:50

$200,000 (Grade III), 3 y.o. & up, 1 1/2 miles

1. Redeemed . . . Ramon Dominguez. . . 1-1

2. Hello Lover . . . Angel Suarez. . . 12-1

3. Birdrun . . . Irad Ortiz Jr./TBA. . . 5-1

4. Eldaafer . . . Angel Arroyo. . . 6-1

5. Not Abroad . . . Nick Petro. . . 10-1

6. Eversoul . . . Jose Caraballo. . . 20-1

7. Win Willy . . . Alex Cintron. . . 3-1

8. Doublethestyle . . . Shannon Uske. . . 30-1

Redeemed will get great position (either in front or right off the front), and is proven at the distance and is in great form. Trainer Rick Dutrow, under threat of a 10-year suspension, is nevertheless having another great year. Eldaafer, who was once claimed for $20,000 and has won nearly $800,000 since, won the 2010 Breeders' Cup Marathon. The winner of this race gets an automatic berth in the 2012 Marathon. Birdrun won last year's Greenwood Cup by DQ. He was eliminated at the start of the Brooklyn when Redeemed won easily. A better break gives him a chance to get a piece of this purse.

* D.J.'s picks:

1. Redeemed

2. Eldaafer

3. Birdrun

The Man O' War

Belmont Park, Race 8 - Post 4:34

$600,000 Grade I, 3 y.o. & up, 1 3/8 miles (turf)

1. Tahoe Lake . . . Eddie Castro. . . 15-1

2. Center Divider . . . Rosie Napravnik. . . 10-1

3. Point of Entry . . . Jose Lezcano. . . 5-2

4. Newsdad . . . Junior Alvarado. . . 4-1

5. Treasure Beach . . . Jamie Spencer. . . 9-5

6. Game Ball . . . David Cohen. . . 30-1

7. Hudson Steele . . . Joe Bravo. . . 5-1

8. Philly Ace . . . Irad Ortiz Jr./TBA. . . 15-1

Treasure Beach won the 2011 Irish Derby and nearly won the Epsom Derby. The colt came over here last year and won the Secretariat Stakes, so he certainly has the credentials. Point of Entry is having a terrific 4-year-old season. Hudson Steele is dangerous because of his speed, but the distance may be a few furlongs too far.

* D.J.'s picks:

1. Treasure Beach

2. Point of Entry

3. Hudson Steele

The Delaware Oaks

Delaware Park, Race 10 _ Post 5:45

$400,000 (Grade II), 3 y.o. fillies, 1-1/16 miles

(Post position in parentheses)

1. Singlet (2). . . Javier Castellano/TBA. . . 7-5

1a. Grace Hall (5). . . Javier Castellano/TBA. . . 7-5

2. Wicked Mizz (1). . . Jeremy Rose. . . 8-1

3. Amie's Dini (3). . . Jon Court. . . 6-1

4. Morrow Cove (4). . . Joe Rocco Jr.. . . 8-1

5. Via Villaggio (6). . . Kent Desormeaux. . . 5-2

6. Aubby K (7). . . Edgar Prado. . . 9-2

Aubby K chased the very fast Contested last out. There is no speed like that in here, so this talented filly has a real chance to take a strong field from gate to wire. Grace Hall made her debut at DelPark a year ago and has never run a poor race in her six starts. She is only $100,000 shy of $1 million and trained by Tony Dutrow, one of America's best. Via Villaggio comes from California with improving form.

* D.J.'s picks:

1. Aubby K

2. Grace Hall

3. Via Villaggio
