Dom Brown activated off DL, singles in Lehigh Valley IronPigs' win

DOMONIC BROWN singled and drove in a run Monday night in his first game since being activated from the disabled list at Triple A Lehigh Valley.

The IronPigs began a four-game series Monday night in Durham and Brown was in the lineup, batting third and playing leftfield.

He went 1-for-3 and also walked, scoring twice as the IronPigs won, 6-1.

Brown was placed on the DL with a right knee sprain on June 27 after missing 12 games, when he was listed as day-to-day. The team and Brown seemed to have a disagreement on the extent of the injury at the time.

He spent last week on a rehab assignment with the Gulf Coast Phillies, hitting .579 with seven doubles and four RBI in five games.

Brown entered the game Monday night hitting .266 with four homers and 22 RBI in 47 games, and before he was injured, Brown had been experiencing a surge after being moved to centerfield. In the 18 games before the injury, he hit .323 with four home runs.

The IronPigs have been a player short, so a roster move was not needed to activate him.

Nix continues rehab

Phillies utility player Laynce Nix continued his rehab from a calf injury, going 0-for-3 with the Class A Clearwater Threshers Monday night. He grounded out twice and was called out looking before being lifted for a defensive replacement in the eighth inning.

He has gone 2-for-11 in four games for the Threshers.
