Letters to the editor: Disrespect for dead cop, family

Posted: July 19, 2012

C'MON, DAILY NEWS (July 17): "Beef with baby mama's boyfriend?" Officer Brady may not have died heroically in the line of duty, but show him and his family some respect by printing a headline without all the cliched hip-hop slang. The negative connotations used in your headline do nothing but sensationalize his death as typical, without giving readers the chance to read the story. Grow up, just a little.

I would like an inquiry into why Officer Marc Brady is not getting the same consideration as a police officer as Highway Patrol Officer Brian Lorenzo. I read in the Daily News that he will not receive a formal police burial and my question is, why not? Was he not still a police officer at the time? Both officers died on their way home, regardless of the fact that one was going off duty and the other was off duty. One had a uniform on and riding a police vehicle but the other was riding a bike. What difference does it make — they were both police officers. Will someone please tell me what is the difference in their circumstances?

To both officers: Rest in peace!

Follow the money

It is wonderful that one Phillies' owner is donating millions for our schoolchildren (July 18). However some of that money is going to a nonprofit where Mayor Nutter's wife is the president. Let me guess, Lisa and the Nutter household will see their income go up again this year while the city's union members continue to struggle without pay raises and step raises. Mayor Nutter, do you really have to go to the annual Labor Day rally?
