Abington man killed in long-running feud

Posted: July 19, 2012

A feud between two Montgomery County residents led to the death of an Abington man who was shot Tuesday night.

William Butler, 27, was shot in the back as he ran from Andre Dula about 9:30 p.m. on the unit block of North Hills Avenue in the North Hills section of Abington Township, District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman said.

Witnesses told police there had been an ongoing dispute between Butler and Dula. On Tuesday night, witnesses said, Dula pulled out a handgun as Butler ran away. Dula, they said, chased Butler while firing three times in his direction.

Butler was taken by a neighbor to Abington Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:58 p.m.

Dula was being held without bail pending a July 25 hearing. - Sam Wood
