A funeral for Philadelphia Police Officer Marc Gregory Brady will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, at Pentecostal Bridegroom Temple, 6425 Wister St. Friends may call from 9.

Officer Brady, 32, was off-duty and riding his bicycle in East Mount Airy on Sunday when he was struck by a white Acura driven by Kareem Alleyne, police said.

Officer Brady was pronounced dead at Albert Einstein Medical Center shortly after midnight. Alleyne was charged Monday with homicide by vehicle and manslaughter.

A graduate of Frankford High School, Officer Brady worked for the U.S. Postal Service before joining the Police Department in 2004. For the last year, he was assigned to Police Headquarters. Before that, he had been with the 22d District in North Philadelphia.

Officer Brady loved spending time with his nine children, making music, and working with electronics, his brother H. Stephen said.

He was compassionate and giving, and was "the ear on the other end of the phone to help you through tough times," his brother said.

In addition to his brother, Officer Brady is survived by his mother, Sharon Bond; his father, Gerald; children Latavia, Naseem, Marc, Lamena, Justin, Brenden, Teon, Taysir, and Nariah; two sisters; and another brother.
