Toronto FC ties Liverpool in friendly

Adam Morgan scored in the 69th minute to gain visiting European power Liverpool a 1-1 draw against Toronto FC in a friendly Saturday.

After Quincy Amarikwa gave Toronto a 1-0 lead in the 58th minute, Morgan tapped a shot past Quillan Roberts from a yard out after the Toronto goalkeeper could only get a piece of Raheem Sterling's strike.

The 18-time English league winners were without many of its stars, including captain Steven Gerrard, Andy Carroll, and Glen Johnson.

Man U ekes out a tie

In Cape Town, South Africa, Portuguese winger Bebe scored in injury time to give Manchester United a 1-1 draw against Ajax Cape Town in the Premier League team's second preseason game.

Substitute Bebe arrived at the far post to finish powerfully from a Marnick Vermijl cross at Cape Town Stadium in a game that burst into life in the final five minutes.

Alcardo Van Graan gave the home side an 85th-minute lead with a clever finish from a corner in cold and rainy conditions. United then surged forward and Bebe kept it unbeaten on its two-game tour of South Africa, following a narrow win over Amazulu earlier in the week.

Columbus 1, Washington 0 - In MLS action Saturday, Chris Birchall scored in the 46th minute to help the Crew beat visiting D.C. United to end a two-game skid.

Birchall ran past the D.C. line to take a leading ball from Jairo Arrieta. Birchall dribbled down the left side and scored from 10 yards out.

Columbus goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum made three saves for his seventh shutout.
