Kastles hold off Freedoms

WASHINGTON — The Freedoms lost to the Washington Kastles, 21-16, in World Team Tennis action Tuesday night.

With the match tied, 16-16, Luka Gregorc had a chance to seal a victory for the Freedoms with a win in men's singles. But Gregorc was shut out, 5-0, by Bobby Reynolds as the Freedoms (4-7) fell to the Kastles (11-0) for the second time in 10 days.

In women's singles, the Freedoms' Kristyna Pliskova lost to Edina Gallovits-Hall, 5-3. In women's doubles, Kristyna also teamed with her twin Karolina for a 5-2 victory over Gallovits-Hall and Raquel Kops-Jones.

In men's doubles, Gregorc and Jordan Kerr defeated Treat Huey and Reynolds, 5-4. The Kastles took mixed doubles as Huey and Kops-Jones defeated Kristyna Pliskova and Kerr, 5-4.

On Wednesday night, Mark Philippoussis will play for the Freedoms, who host the Boston Lobsters at Villanova's Pavilion at 7 o'clock.
