Batman held on to his lofty box-office perch over the weekend, as The Dark KnightRises clocked in with a gate of a little more than $64 million. Still, that was a 60 percent decline from the film's opening weekend receipts of $160.9 mil. Total take in the first 10 days of release for the final installment in Christopher Nolan's trilogy now stands at $289 million. That's well behind the initial 10-day total of $313.8 million of its 2008 predecessor, The Dark Knight. Second place in the box-office sweeps went to Ice Age: Continental Drift, with $13.3 million in its third week. The Watch ($13 million), Step Up Revolution ($11.8 million), and Ted ($7.4 million) completed the top five.

Snoop dogged
Snoopy dogs made trouble for Snoop Dogg in Norway last month, sniffing out eight grams of marijuana in the rapper's luggage as he arrived for a music festival. As a result, Snoop has been banned from Norway for two years, according to his lawyer, Holger Hagesaeter, who told the Associated Press on Saturday his client "can live with the decision" and has no immediate plans to appeal it. Snoop Dogg, né Calvin Broadus, was also carrying more cash than the law allows and paid a fine of $8,600 after admitting to the offenses, Hagesaeter said.
'Family' finances fixed
The dust-up over dollars between cast and producers of the hit comedy Modern Family won't be settled in a courtroom, after all. A representative of 20th Century Fox confirmed Friday night that an agreement had been reached with the show's stars and that shooting for the much-honored ABC series' fourth season would begin Monday. Getting new deals are Sofia Vergara, Ed O'Neill, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Eric Stonestreet, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. Five of the actors had sued Fox on Tuesday, asking a judge to invalidate their contracts. O'Neill joined the case later. Terms of the deal were not released, but the lawsuit will be dropped.
