Phil Steele, Athlon, and College Football News predict Temple will finish last in the eight-team conference.
Even though they averaged nearly nine wins the last three seasons, the Owls return just eight starters from last season's squad. And most believe competition in the Big East is superior.
"We are going to go out and try to be the toughest team on the field every time we go out there," said junior quarterback Chris Coyer, one of four Owls who will accompany head coach Steve Addazio on media day.
"That's the way we play. And that's the way we are going to keep playing."
Defensive end Marcus Green, right tackle Martin Wallace and placekicker/punter Brandon McManus will also attend.
Temple opens football camp on Saturday. The Owls' first game is Aug. 31 against Villanova in the Mayor's Cup at Lincoln Financial Field.
Newsome update: Quarterback Kevin Newsome, a transfer from Penn State, is scheduled to arrive on campus Friday in time for camp. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder is home in Virginia having finished up courses at Tidewater Community College. Newsome brings two seasons of eligibility to Temple.
Brown garners honors: Temple defensive tackle Levi Brown was a first-team preseason all-Big East selection by College Sports Madness.
The 6-2, 300-pound redshirt junior finished with 23 tackles and forced a fumble last season.
