Phila. officer suspended after charges filed in N.J.

The Philadelphia Police Department announced Wednesday that one of its officers had been indicted in Atlantic County, N.J., on charges of resisting arrest and aggravated assault on a policeman.

The department identified the officer as Aisha Pleasant, 36, a three-year member of the force.

"Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey will suspend Pleasant for 30 days with the intent to dismiss," the department said. - Staff report
