S. Philly slaying victim identified

A man shot at least 10 times and killed early Thursday in South Philadelphia was identified today as 22-year-old James Knight.

Knight was pronounced dead at 12:15 a.m. at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after police found him riddled with bullets on the 1900 block of South 23rd Street, police said. He lived nearby on the 1800 block.

Investigators have not reported if they have established a possible motive in the shooting death, one of two on Thursday.

Police have not yet released the name of a 29-year-old man who was shot multiple times in the head and body about 11:15 p.m. Thursday on the 2600 block of West Hagert Street in North Philadelphia.

He was pronounced dead at 11:34 p.m. at Temple University Hospital.

Again, no word on a possible motive.
