Recruiting Central: Temple football gains another recruit

Monacan High School (Va.) senior Connor Wingo-Reeves said Friday he would play football at Temple.

A middle linebacker in high school, the 6-foot-2, 220-pounder is being recruited to play Temple's fox defensive end position. He finished last season with 93 tackles, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles.

"I'm really excited about it," Wingo-Reeves said of the defensive line. "It's definitely something new. But I'm really excited to play wherever they put me. I just like playing football."

The 17-year-old also said he's excited about playing for Temple coach Steve Addazio.

"I really like the head coach," said Wingo-Reeves, the 11th member of the Owls' 2013 recruiting class. "It's all about winning. And I like the way he looks out for his players. And I really like how he handles himself."

He chose the Owls' scholarship offer over those from Navy and William and Mary. The 17-year-old also received interest from Virginia Tech, Boston College, Miami, Maryland, East Carolina, and Old Dominion.

"I felt like this was the best look for me," said Wingo-Reeves, who received his Temple offer on Wednesday. "I didn't want to wait to make a commitment, because I felt like it was the best school for me."
