Posted: August 05, 2012

Camden police have offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a man they say has raped at least two women in the city since late March and may be targeting prostitutes.

The first attack occurred about 5 a.m. March 21 in a wooded area near Sixth and Jackson Streets; the second happened about 2 p.m. on July 26 near Sixth and Chelton Avenue.

The victims, who are in their 20s, described their assailant as being Hispanic and speaking broken English. He was said to be between 30 and 45 years old, standing from 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-10, and has thinning, slicked-back hair. He has a prominent jutting jaw and wore multi-strand, multicolored bead necklaces during both attacks, police said.

Anyone with information may call the Camden County Police Special Victims Unit at 856-757-7160. To be eligible to receive the reward, tipsters must call the Citizens' Crime Commission at 215-546-TIPS. Tips may be provided anonymously. - Jacqueline L. Urgo
