A Norristown man already in prison on unrelated charges has been accused of ordering a hit in 2010 on a rival for the affection of a woman, police said Friday.
Officials identified the suspect as Tyuan Simon, 31. Simon was arrested Aug. 2 at the State Correctional Institution at Forest, where he is serving a prison sentence of six months to two years on drug charges.
Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman said investigators probing the Oct. 19, 2010, death of 34-year-old Tyree Whiting in Norristown were told that a person named "L.B." was responsible for the shooting.
L.B, Ferman said, turned out to be a third man who claimed Simon offered $10,000 to kill Whiting. The third man, identified by police as Bruce Woods Jr., pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and faces a sentence of 77 to 154 years in prison.
