Carli Lloyd's Olympic journal

Posted: August 05, 2012

The Delran native and Rutgers graduate has scored twice in the U.S. women's soccer team's first four games - all victories as the Americans get ready for their semifinal against Canada. Here are her thoughts:

We battled against New Zealand and came away with a 2-0 victory to advance to the semifinals against Canada. I felt that I put in another solid performance. I'm really enjoying playing defensive mid.

When in possession of the ball the game is in front of me and I am able to find my teammates and keep the game flowing. New Zealand were a scrappy opponent and I give them credit as they fought all the way to the end.

Feel blessed that I am able to play in famous stadiums. Knowing that the best players in the world have graced these fields makes it so special when walking out for kickoff.

My focus has already turned to our next game vs. Canada. We have faced Canada on many different occasions and know it is going to be a battle and we have to come prepared to fight for 90 minutes. They are going to make it hard for us but we are determined and ready.

Personally no fatigue or soreness has kicked in. My training prior to the Olympics is definitely rewarding me. I'm feeling fresh for our next battle.

I'm looking forward to it.

Until next time,

Carli
