Video of a man stealing a diamond engagement ring from a mall jeweler has been released by Bensalem police.

The theft happened at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gordon's Jewelers in Neshaminy Mall.

Surveillance video shows a thin black male, about 5-foot-10, and 20 to 30 years old looking around the store, while wearing a Flyers hat and a Flyers T-shirt.

He sits down as an employee shows him a one-karat engagement ring. He then grabs it and runs out of the store. He was last seen fleeing on foot across Neshaminy Boulevard, police said.

The ring, valued at $8,500, was one of the most expensive in the store, according to Detective Larry Leith.

The description of the thief released by police includes "large circular holes in his earlobes, Mohawk haircut, some facial hair, and tattoos on his right arm."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Leith at 215-633-3713.

"Hopefully, he's a local kid and somebody will be able to identify him today," Leith said.
