Eagles list punter McBriar No. 1 on depth chart

BETHLEHEM — The Eagles released their first depth chart of training camp Monday, and there were no huge surprises. The biggest ripple might have been that Mat McBriar is listed as the starting punter over incumbent Chas Henry, even though McBriar acknowledged again Monday that he is still working his way back from a nerve problem that affects his plant leg.

"I don't know if it's anything too official," said McBriar, 33, a two-time Pro Bowl punter with the Cowboys who labored last season with a cyst, since removed, pressing on his peroneal nerve. McBriar has been wearing a brace to support his left foot, but he spent part of Monday's practice without it. "It doesn't mean anything to me, really."

McBriar said he is enjoying competing with Henry, feels they are pushing one another.

"I'm trying to get back [to his Pro Bowl level]. I don't know if I'm back there yet. I've had a bit of a layoff … It's coming. We're working on it every day," McBriar said.

Coleman still starting

Another note from the depth chart is that Nate Allen and Kurt Coleman are still the starting safeties. Ultimately, it wouldn't be a surprise if veteran free agent O.J. Atogwe unseated Coleman, but Coleman noted Monday that Atogwe, still learning the defense, so far is playing the other safety spot.

"I feel like I've been playing well, doing my job," Coleman said.

Defensive tackle Derek Landri has Mike Patterson's starting spot, as Patterson recovers from surgery to untangle blood vessels in his brain.

Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin left Monday afternoon's practice with cramps … Wideout Jamel Hamler had more trouble with his hamstring … Safety Nate Allen, tight end Brent Celek and defensive end Trent Cole all were "predetermined" partial participants, the Eagles said, as they worked their way back from minor injuries …

Corner Cliff Harris sat out with an ankle sprain … The Eagles signed linebacker Adrian Moten, from Maryland, and released wide receiver Andrew Brewer. Moten got jersey 53, worn until last week by another Maryland linebacker, Moise Fokou.
