Four arrested in shooting confrontation in Norristown

Four men have been arrested on various charges in connection with a dispute over a debt that sent bullets flying on a quiet block in Norristown early Tuesday and had a pistol-whipped woman locked in a car trunk.

Norristown police arrested two Philadelphia brothers, Terrance Ferguson, 33, and Kenneth Ferguson, 40, who were identified in court papers as assailants.

They were processed at bedside at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where they are recovering from wounds sustained in the gun battle.

Police said a third man, Shawn Thomaston, 30, lives on the 300 block of East Moore Street, where the incident occurred. He tied up the victim, court records said.

The fourth man, Roderick Perry, 36, of Norristown, was summoned to the house by the others, police said. He sustained a gunshot wound to the groin and also is recovering at the Penn hospital.

Shenequa Tensley, 39, a resident of the house peppered with gunfire, was identified in court papers as a witness for the prosecution. The incident erupted from a beef over money.

The woman, Lakeisha House, according to police, said she was called to the Moore Street home by Tensley, who said she wanted a cigarette.

As House entered, she was grabbed by a man who tied her up, pistol-whipped her, and demanded that she call her boyfriend, Perry, to bring $22,000 the assailant said he was owed.

The man threatened to "merk" - murder - House if the money was not produced in 15 minutes, police allege in court papers.

One man forced House into the trunk of a stolen black Mazda parked outside and closed the trunk.

House told police she heard "a lot of gunshots" as the sides met. When the noise subsided, she was released unharmed from the trunk by a police officer, court papers say.

"She was lucky," First Assistant District Attorney Kevin Steele said.

The Fergusons were charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and endangering the welfare of children, police said. They are being held on $1 million bail in the Montgomery County prison for hearing next Friday.

Thomaston was accused of attempted criminal homicide. He, too, could not post $1 million bail and faces a hearing next Friday.

Perry was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and endangering the welfare of children, police said. The drug charges stemmed from a prior undercover narcotics sting, the court papers said.

He was released on his own recognizance for a hearing, also next Friday.
