A 40-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he ran into the rear of a Cadillac Escalade in Cape May County, police said Thursday.

Middle Township police said both operators were eastbound on North Wildwood Boulevard about 5 p.m. Wednesday when Pamela Milano, 26, swerved her Escalade onto the shoulder to avoid debris in the roadway.

Luke Gallo, riding a motorcycle behind her, also swerved onto the shoulder and slammed into SUV, police said. Gallo, of North Wildwood, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Milano, of Rio Grande, was treated for minor injuries at Cape Regional Medical Center.

Police said an investigation determined both operators had suspended licenses. Milano was charged with driving with a suspended license while involved in a crash resulting in death. The investigation is continuing, and police asked anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them at 609-465-8700. - Inquirer staff
