Flyers sign Bourdon, Laughton

Posted: August 10, 2012

The Flyers signed defenseman Marc-Andre Bourdon to a multiyear contract extension and reached an agreement with center Scott Laughton, a 2012 first-round pick, on an entry-level deal, the team announced on Wednesday.

Details of Bourdon's contract were not released, but the deal reportedly is for two years and $1.225 million. Bourdon, a third-round draft pick in 2008, made his debut last season and scored four goals with three assists. The 22-year-old played in 45 games for the Flyers.

Bourdon has spent parts of the last three season with the Adirondack Phantoms, putting up 33 points and 168 penalty minutes in 125 games.

His signing came one day after defenseman Andrej Meszaros had surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon. Meszaros is expected the miss the entire season.

Laughton, 18, was the 20th overall pick in June's draft. He scored 33 goals and had 43 assists in 127 games over the course of two seasons with the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League.
