"MAHALO PHILADELPHIA. Thanks for 8 amazing years!"

That's the message on a new billboard from "Shane Victorino & Family."

As fans might guess, "Mahalo" means "thank you" in Hawaiian. After all, the Maui-born outfielder, recently traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers, was nicknamed the "Flyin' Hawaiian."

The electronic image, part of a rotating set, is visible to westbound travelers on the Pennsylvania Turnpike just west of Exit 343, near Willow Grove, according to Interstate Outdoor Advertising.

The tribute to fans was suggested by Drew Katz, the billboard company's CEO, who explained that the two became friends through Victorino's involvement with the Nicetown Boys & Girls Club.

"I put it up there because he's such a good guy, and does so many wonderful things with his foundation," said Katz.

Victorino's people came up with the message and the design, Katz said.

Last week, Victorino also shared his gratitude with full-page ads published by the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News, declaring, "MAHALO PHILADELPHIA, and to the amazing Phillies fans for all the GREAT memories!"

The billboards and the ads are unrelated - even if the papers are owned by a similar-named company, Interstate General Media, and one of IGM's owners is Lewis Katz, Drew's father.

"There's no cross-ownership," Drew Katz said.

Last August, ex-Eagles kicker showed his gratitude with a Clear Channel billboard visible to cars traveling north on I-95 North near Lincoln Financial Field.

"THANKS PHILLY FOR BLESSING ME FOR 12 YEARS AND FOR YOUR SUPPORT ON AND OFF THE FIELD," it read.

"MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL, DAVID AKERS."
