Versatile little vehicle

The Scramble Bug from QuickSmart is the coolest bug on four wheels - and it's just the thing for the traveling toddler. The sturdy ride-on starter bike looks like a big wacky insect, with four double wheels for "feet," and handlebars rising from a bug-eyed plastic "head" like antennae. The double wheels rotate 360 degrees, so the rider can steer her insect forward, backward, or in circles. Best of all, the brightly colored bug-cycle folds nearly flat for storage and transport (when folded, it measures about 28 by 14 by 6 inches), and weighs just 6.4 pounds. Designed for children ages 1 to 3, the Scramble Bug comes in four color patterns and can be used inside or outside. Also available in a tricycle model, called the Scuttle Bug, which has one double-wheel "leg" in front and two double-wheel legs in the back, making it more agile but also perhaps more of a tipping challenge.

Scramble Bug is $59.99, Scuttle Bug $49.99, at www.quicksmartgo.com; 855-438-6827.
