Man, 63, slain in N. Philadelphia

A 63-year-old man was shot and killed early today in his North Philadelphia apartment, police said.

Linda Stanley said the victim was her brother Amar Stanley, a neighborhood street newspaper vendor.

Police said he was shot twice in the chest and once in the hip about 4 a.m. in the second-floor apartment on the 2200 block of West Lehigh Avenue. He was pronounced dead at 4:37 a.m. at Temple University Hospital.

Investigators have not yet disclosed if they have established a motive or identified a possible suspect.
