Police have released the names of two men killed in separate shootings in Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Nachaie Newman, 20, was killed and a 17-year-old boy was wounded in a drive-by shooting shortly before 6 p.m. on the 1200 block of West Rockland Street in the Logan section, police said.

Newman, who lived two blocks away on the 4600 block of North 12th Street, was shot in the stomach and died a short time later at Albert Einstein Medical Center.

Police said the 17-year-old was treated for a gunshot wound to the arm at Einstein and released.

A third man who was with the pair when the gunfire rang out fled and may have been the target of the shooting, police said.

Police were looking for two cars that left the scene.

In the other slaying, Lite Belesky, 37, was shot eight times and killed about 8 p.m. while in the company of his girlfriend at the Parkside-Evans Recreation Center at 53rd Street and Parkside Avenue in West Philadelphia.

Belesky lived on the 2200 block of Bryn Mawr Avenue in the Wynnefield section.

Police recovered 11 .45-caliber shell casings at the scene, a grassy patch between the swings and the basketball courts.

No word yet from investigators as to whether they have established a motive in either shooting.
