TEENA WAS picked up wandering the neighborhood near PAWS' Old City shelter nearly a year ago. Although the black pit-bull mix is "young and energetic, and really smart and really playful and cute," said PAWS executive director Melissa Levy, "for whatever reason, our adopters have ended up choosing other dogs over and over again."
(The reason, said more than one person in the know, might be her color: Black animals, both dogs and cats, often take longer to find homes.)
Teena is 2 to 4 years old, weighs 60 pounds, and is shy at first, but warm thereafter. She's into cuddling, running and playing with squeaky toys. She is, said Levy, "wonderful." And after more than 10 months spent in the shelter, Teena needs to find a home, fast.
