Vilma co-owns the eatery with fellow linebackers D.J. Williams of Denver and Jon Beason of Carolina, both former teammates at the University of Miami.
Williams is also facing a six-game suspension to start the 2012 season, after failing two NFL-mandated drug tests. Beason, recovering from a tweaked hamstring and hoping to be ready for the Panthers' opener, is presumably lying low and avoiding any calls from the New York area.
In other bounty news, the Saints designated offensive line coach Aaron Kromer as the interim head coach for the first six regular-season games while assistant head coach Joe Vitt is serving his suspension in connection with the scandal.
As fans watched, Cleveland cornerback Joe Haden was kicked off the practice field Wednesday by coach Pat Shurmur, who thought the third-year cornerback was being too physical with rookie wide receiver Travis Benjamin during a passing drill.
The Browns denied interview requests for Haden (facing a possible four-game suspension by the NFL for reportedly failing a drug test).
And Shurmur was mum.
"If you want details," he said, "you're going to have to find it on Twitter."
Two for the Hall
Kansas City defensive tackle Curley Culp and Green Bay linebacker Dave Robinson have been chosen by the Pro Football Hall of Fame's seniors committee as finalists for the Class of 2013.
The two will join 15 modern-era candidates yet to be selected on a list from which the Hall of Fame class will be chosen. The selection meeting is Feb. 2 in New Orleans.
Moving the chains
Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten won't need to have surgery on his lacerated spleen, a procedure that would have caused him to miss the season. Witten hopes to play in the regular- season-opener Sept. 5 against the New York Giants. . . . Miami guard Eric Steinbach 32, who had played eight seasons for Cincinnati and Cleveland, has decided to retire. . . . The Indianapolis Colts acquired cornerback Josh Gordy from the St. Louis Rams for an undisclosed draft pick in 2014.
