Police shoot, kill stabbing suspect in N. Philadelphia

Posted: August 28, 2012

A police officer shot and killed a knife-wielding man who had just stabbed another person in the Feltonville section early today, authorities said.

Details are sketchy, but police said the assailant refused to drop the knife and one officer fired when the man came at police on the 400 block of East Wyoming Avenue.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:25 a.m.

The stabbing victim, a 33-year-old man, was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was reported to be in critical but stable condition, police said.

Police Internal Affairs and Homicide Units are investigating.

It was the third police involved shooting - and the second to be fatal - in four days in Philadelphia.
